Through a Desert Lens. Desert Oak Studio, Yulara

Written by Gary Proctor, Director ( 2013-02-08 19:35:00 )

Our glass show is now up at Desert Oaks Studio at Yulara, 50 pieces all up including supporting paintings from the collection, photos and prints, all nicely wrapped in a great little 8 page catalogue by Matt Quick.

The show features two large glass panel sets with designs by Taparti Bates, for both the subject is her favourite theme the Kungkarrangkalpa (Seven Sisters Dreaming). These are supported by three paintings by this artist from the collection. Other glass work is by Elizabeth Holland, Nola Hunt, Betty West, Christine West, Nora Holland and Pulpurru Davies.

Right now there is so much on & we really didn't need another show, not even a small one. But Yulara is an important place to share what we are doing, because communities in the Central Desert need to make more connections. We are only seven hours drive away after all ...

Many thanks to Megan, Adrienne and Terese for their kindness and for making us feel so welcome. We look forward to repaying their hospitality when they can make it down our way.
