Chengdu Install

Written by Gary Proctor, Director ( 2014-06-11 18:10:00 )

This was a small show - about 15% of the whole touring production - presented at Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum in Chengdu that took two days to set up. Each morning we walked through the beautifully landscaped grounds of this museum to the gallery and worked with a small, very friendly team of museum staff.

We used powerful magnets to put up the work in this space - the first time I have ever done this. It proved an excellent, non-invasive way of hanging large canvases, the downside being you need a metal wall to do this. Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum has metal walls in it's galleries. Consequently the art work went up very quickly and painlessly.

Mao Tse Dong visited Du Fu Thatched Cottage when he was across this way and so did we.
