People's Liberation Army in Yunnan

Written by Gary Proctor, Director ( 2013-09-06 18:14:00 )

After helping us unload when we first came to Yunnan in August eleven members of China's People's Liberation Army helped us load for the trip up to Inner Mongolia, once again between heavy showers of rain. They were a friendly and positive bunch of guys who really enjoyed helping and we made friends easily. We gave them ties with Elizabeth Holland's Nyirri Nyirri design on it, and they were chuffed.

Kunming was a very positive exhibition venue for us in so many ways. It was the first time they had had a major show from Australia and by their own testimonies it was a significant event for them. Every time we stopped by we were always to see visitors walking through the space, showing keen interest in both the work and the interpretive material. Lots of new friends and happy memories.
