Tu Di Shen Ti opens in Yunnan

Written by Gary Proctor, Director ( 2013-08-15 20:20:00 )

Kunming was a great opening after all the work to get it up (including getting all the crates up the stairs helped by our good friends in China's PLA). Many members of the Kunming political and cultural scene were there for the official opening speeches by Mr Huang Jun, director of Yunnan Cultural Bureau and Ms Frances Adamson, Australian Ambassador to China. Mr. Ren Bin Yan, Vice President of Rio Tinto China, also spoke and was warmly welcomed by guests.

The Yunnan Fine Art gallery has just been refurbished and our show was the first in, as well as one of the very rare international shows that come to Yunnan. It has been a total pleasure to work with the staff and volunteers here; our experiences with museums and installations have always been good but some venues stand out and the Yunnan Fine Art Museum is one of them. End of opening banquet featured an ice sculptured naked woman on a porpoise, lit from within by gently flashing LEDs. Much happiness.
