Audio Visuals, Tu Di Shen Ti, China 2013-2014

写作于 Gary Proctor, Director ( 2013-06-23 11:00:00 )

Bryce Grunden first worked on audio material with Warburton Arts Project in 1992-93, when we made a CD to go in the Yarnangu Ngaanya exhibition catalogue. 20 years later it is really good to work with an old friend who is as capable and experienced as Bryce, and who is so closely connected to our Western Desert arts community and the way we think about things.

The second tour brings a 20 channel digital sound installation, two data projected installations and two multiple screen installations on tour to eight museums. The whole show, paintings and mixed media installations, needs to travel safely across thousands of kilometres and go up in five days at each venue. A lot is handled in production design, packing schedules and installation design that is time-framed to go up without problems in any setting, but there are frequently problems that require lateral thinking and experience. Bryce has this in abundance.

There are often times when I find myself under real pressure - hundred and one details, decisions now on all of it - it's a comfort then to turn around and see Bryce quietly on the job, working away; once we've worked out what we want to do the A/V installations are one thing I do not have to worry about. Very grateful for this.
